What is sanhujori?
Sanhujori is the traditional form of postpartum care in South Korea. It focuses on helping birth parents recover their strength after delivery by eating nutritious meals, staying warm, being tended to and having plenty of time to rest.
In Korea, sanhujori is most often provided in special centers that moms and babies travel to. Kae brings care to your home. An emonim (loosely translated as "auntie" in Korean) is the extra pair of hands you need, preparing and serving full meals, caring for baby and helping your body heal.
We’re different than a postpartum doula.
The services that a postpartum doula vary widely from provider to provider. Kae goes above and beyond to provide a level of postpartum care that is rarely found in the West. We take care of you and your baby so your body can heal and your mind can rest.
Your emonim will always provide.

We understand how challenging the first few weeks after childbirth can be.
American birth parents are saddled with the impossible: caring for themself, a new human and getting back to “normal” as soon as possible. But it doesn't have to be this way.
In traditional South Korean culture, the practice of sanhujori provides a gentle and essential support system, designed to safeguard the well-being of both parent and baby. Here in the West, much of that spirit of postpartum care has been lost, leaving many new mothers and parents feeling isolated after bringing their little one home. At Kae, we want you to get comfortable with being cared for.
Kae is the only 24/7 in-home postpartum care service in the USA. We understand that the needs of a newborn don’t disappear when the day ends, and neither should the care you receive. In this sensitive time, being able to rest at home, surrounded by your family and familiar comforts, can make all the difference. Kae helps you create a peaceful and gentle routine full of rest, allowing you to settle into your new life with ease.
Kae is here to care for you and your baby, providing the space and support you need to adjust during this beautifully complex time. We want you to be held, instead of holding the weight of postpartum alone.

Any parent who has a newborn up to 12 weeks of age. While our service is aimed at newborns and caring for the rest and recovery of the birth parent, we recognize that this is a transition for everyone in the family and are happy to support a variety of family dynamics, including adoption of a newborn.
Our emonims are primarily in western Washington, but we have many parents all over the USA who use our services. If your family is outside of our primary service area, you will be responsible for the cost of your emonim’s round-trip plane ticket.
