FAQ
Overview
Any parent who has a newborn up to 12 weeks of age. While our service is aimed at newborns and caring for the rest and recovery of the birth parent, we recognize that this is a transition for everyone in the family and are happy to support a variety of family dynamics, including adoption of a newborn.
Your emonim provides care based on the Korean tradition of rest and relaxation, keeping warm, and consuming nutritious foods to heal the body. This is important for long term health in mothers. Postpartum doula services will vary. Some cook, while others do not. They may fix light meals, whereas emonim has a focus on full meals made with nutritious foods that help to heal the body.
Our emonims are primarily in western Washington, but we have many parents all over the USA who use our services. If your family is outside of our primary service area, you will be responsible for the cost of your emonim’s round-trip plane ticket.

Booking
We offer bookings for as little as 1 week (5 days). We recommend a minimum of 4 weeks, but many families will find that they may need an emonim for up to 8 weeks.
We understand that plans can change unexpectedly. If you need to reschedule your emonim’s arrival, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance. If you need to cancel your care, please notify us at least four weeks before your expected due date in order to avoid any cancellation fees and forfeiture of your deposit.
As soon as you find out that you have a baby on the way, we recommend booking your emonim as our services can book out months in advance.
Please notify us 1-2 weeks before the end of your service if you would like to extend your emonim’s stay, so we can do our best to arrange an extension.
Your Emonim
We pride ourselves on finding the most nurturing and caring emonims, and match you with one who fits your personality and family style. If for any reason you feel that your emonim is not a good match, we will do our absolute best to secure a new emonim for your home.
When you go into labor, contact your emonim. She will stay in contact with you or your birth partner and will be waiting for you at your home when you arrive from the hospital.
When you are matched 2-3 weeks before your due date, you will have a phone call with your emonim. In-person meetups may not be possible, as she may still be caring for another family before you give birth.
Yes, your emonim will speak a minimum of basic conversational English.
You will be matched with your emonim approximately 3-4 weeks before your expected due date. If you go into labor earlier than expected, please contact Kae and we will match you with an emonim right away so they can meet you at your home when you’re discharged.
